Daily device use and increased screen-time have become an intricate component of school instruction and everyday home life for many youth. Depending on the child's age, home-life and school-life experiences, among other aspects, the development of competencies to navigate digital environments will vary.
For children who have technological access, as well as, the capacity (secondary students) to manage the links, assignments, and the tech troubleshooting, virtual learning can be empowering. Children without technological access and children who are unable to manage a virtual platform (whether because they have yet to develop their digital literacy or because their fingers are too small to manage clicking and dragging) may experience a loss of agency when virtual learning is necessary (Hauge, 2020).
Primary and Secondary Student Activities: Attached are articles that further share SEL resources and tools appropriate for school students in various age groups. Please complete both activities:

2. Read the article then complete the VIA Character Strengths Survey, for an example of an SEL activity to complete with secondary students.
The VIA Survey is a free scientific survey of character strengths. **You must be 13 years or older to register for an account. Children under 13 must have an adult register here or the adult may sign in for the child to take the VIA Youth Survey on their account.**
